The Headlines
Quentin Grimes just reminded everyone he exists. The 76ers bench erupted for 44.6 Yahoo points in a win over Brooklyn, turning a sloppy backup carousel into must-watch fantasy relevance. This wasn't a fluke either. With Philly's rotation in flux, Grimes is suddenly eating minutes and making the most of them.
Wembanyama did Wembanyama things. 74.4 Yahoo points on 32 points. Victor is locked into that "start him every night without thinking" tier, but the bigger story? Charlotte nearly pulled off the upset anyway. The Hornets have more depth than people think.
The Hawks smoked the Bucks at home, and it was ugly. Milwaukee getting held to 99 points in their own building isn't a vibe. Jalen Johnson outperformed Giannis Jr. in fantasy value, and CJ McCollum went nuclear. This wasn't close.
Top Performers
Victor Wembanyama (SAS): 74.4 Yahoo FP, 32 points. He's basically playing a different sport than everyone else.
Quentin Grimes (PHI): 44.6 Yahoo FP. The backup minutes are real and the fantasy ceiling is there.
CJ McCollum (ATL): Built different in fantasy. Went absolutely nuclear against Milwaukee's defense.
Jalen Johnson (ATL): Outdueled the Bucks' biggest names. This is the kind of performance that makes you pay attention.
Tyrese Maxey (PHI): Quiet monster night. Didn't light up the box score but did the Maxey things that rack up points.
The Disappointments
Giannis Antetokounmpo took an L here. Milwaukee got routed, which limits ceiling games even for the best players. If you started him banking on a bounce-back night, rough.
Brandon Miller and Charlotte's supporting cast: The Hornets stayed competitive but couldn't finish. Classic case of good fantasy floor, bad ceiling because the win wasn't there.
Waiver Priority
Quentin Grimes - URGENT. 44.6 points means real rotation minutes. If he's still available in your league, grab him now. The Sixers need bench scoring and he just proved he can deliver.
Jalen Johnson - The Hawks showed he can punish bad defenses. Atlanta's getting consistent with their lineups and Johnson is eating.
Cody Martin or any Hornets depth - Charlotte played competitive basketball against a Bucks team that looked disinterested. There's depth play potential here.
Backup Sixers guards - Philly's rotation is messy but that means opportunity. Stream the second unit if you need filler.
Sell High, Buy Low
Sell: CJ McCollum had a massive game, but one nuclear performance doesn't mean he's a consistent league-winner. If someone in your league is panicking about their Bucks and wants to overpay, now's the time. Don't hold a one-night spike.
Buy: Victor Wembanyama - Yes, he's already owned everywhere, but if you can trade for him, do it. The 74.4 point games aren't flukes. He's the closest thing to a lock in fantasy right now.
Watch: Jalen Johnson is starting to look like the real deal instead of a Charlotte depth play. Monitor how many minutes he gets going forward. If it sticks, he's a league winner.
Trending Down
Giannis Jr. - Not a drop, but Milwaukee's performance was brutal. Can't rely on him for monster nights if the team is this flat.
Any Nets rotation player besides Grimes - Brooklyn got cooked and the carousel spins too fast to trust anyone not named Grimes right now.
Bottom line: Grimes is the add. Wembanyama is still the cheat code. And the Bucks? They need a serious wake-up call. Your league's waiver wire just got spicy.
