Pistons Dismantle Nets 138-100: Cade's Playmaking Masterclass and the Deep Bench That Actually Showed Up

This was a straight up clinic. The Pistons came to Brooklyn and said "nah, we're not doing the close game thing," and the Nets had no answer. Final score 138-100 tells you everything you need to know, but the fantasy breakdown is where it gets interesting because this wasn't just a star player going off, this was a full roster flexing.

Cade's Playmaking Broke the Game

Look at Cade Cunningham's line: 21 points, 15 assists, and that's in just 25 minutes. That's not a typo. He dropped 48.1 Yahoo FP on basically a half night of work because the Nets couldn't keep up. The -4.2 point differential versus his season average actually undersells what happened here. His 15 assists is way above his 9.8 average, and when you're getting that kind of distribution efficiency (8-10 FG), that's just different. This is what All-NBA Third Team looks like when the defense doesn't show up.

The thing that matters for your roster: don't expect this every night. This was a blowout where Cade got to run the offense and the Nets simply couldn't execute. But if you own him, you're already happy. If you don't and someone in your league is panicking because he's been quiet the last week, now's the time to buy if you've got assets.

Jalen Duren's Effortless Dominance

Jalen Duren went 9-10 from the field. NINE OUT OF TEN. That's not luck, that's the Nets having zero answer for a big man who can actually move. 26 points in 22 minutes, +7.5 above his season average, and he picked up 2 blocks just for fun. This is the kind of performance that makes you wonder why he's not more consistent in fantasy, but the answer is simple: the Nets didn't have the personnel to stop him tonight.

The concern here is sustainability. His season average is 18.5 ppg, and while 26 is great, he also shot out of his mind. Don't go trading away valuable pieces thinking Duren is about to average 26. But do hold him, because if he figures out how to be this efficient more often, he's going to be one of the best values in fantasy.

The Deep Bench Showed Up (And That's Worth Noting)

This is the real story for anyone paying attention to waiver wire action. Marcus Sasser dropped 14 points on 5-7 shooting with 4 threes in just 20 minutes. That's +9.2 versus his season average of 4.8 ppg. That's not a typo either. Kid went off.

Daniss Jenkins with 14 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. That steal count is huge. He's averaging 7.5 ppg and 2.9 apg but got to 6 dimes tonight. This feels like minutes availability in a blowout, not a genuine breakout.

Ronald Holland II with 16 points and Javonte Green with the steals (3 picks) added up quickly. These are the guys who shouldn't be getting your attention for keeps, but the Marcus Sasser line is worth monitoring. If the Pistons are playing guys who are shooting this well, you want to know about it.

The Nets Couldn't Generate Anything

On the flip side, Brooklyn's best night came from role players who massively overperformed their season averages, which is what happens when your team loses by 38 points.

Danny Wolf had his best game of the season (30.6 Yahoo FP) but went 2-6 from the field. He lived at the free throw line (7-9 FT) and grabbed 8 boards. The +4.2 ppg is real but this is classic "losing team getting garbage time minutes" stuff. Don't panic add this guy.

Michael Porter Jr. was the biggest letdown. 19 points sounds fine until you see he shot 7-14 and came in at -5.3 versus his season average. For a guy averaging 24.3 ppg, that's a clear underperformance. Nets got blown out and he didn't carry the load.

Ben Saraf and Nic Claxton both played but neither moved the needle. Claxton's 12.3 ppg average meant he had to show up more than he did (2 points in 20 minutes is rough).

What You Actually Do Tomorrow

If you're hunting the waiver wire, Marcus Sasser is worth a claim in deeper leagues. That's your only real add from this game. Everything else is noise from a blowout.

If you own Nets players in meaningful roles, don't panic. This was a bad night, not a roster breakdown. Brooklyn's still got their core.

If you own Jalen Duren, hold. The efficiency will regress but the upside is real.

If you own Cade Cunningham, you're already winning and tonight proved why.

That's it. That's the game. The Pistons showed up ready, the Nets didn't, and your fantasy team either benefited or it didn't based on who you had. Tomorrow's another day.
