The Headlines
Tyrese Maxey just put the league on notice. 66.3 Yahoo FP in a narrow Sixers win over Miami isn't a fluke performance, it's a declaration. The Heat brought everything and Philly still walked out with the W, largely because Maxey was unstoppable. This is the kind of night that changes playoff positioning conversations.
Meanwhile, Brandon Miller dropped 46.4 on Indiana and nobody's shocked anymore. Charlotte's figured out their guy, the Hornets are looking dangerous, and if you didn't grab Miller weeks ago, you're kicking yourself now.
Top Performers
- Tyrese Maxey - 66.3 Yahoo FP (PHI) - Broke out against a Heat defense that usually has answers. This is what ceiling games look like.
- Brandon Miller - 46.4 Yahoo FP (CHA) - Continuing his hot streak. The kid is locked in and the league knows it.
- Bam Adebayo - Real talk, the recap mentions his "explosion" as the actual story from Miami's loss. Even in defeat, he was doing damage.
- Tyrese Haliburton (IND) - Chalk it up. Indiana got demolished and there's only so much one guy can do against Charlotte's energy.
- TBD - Need the full box scores but the Maxey/Miller combo dominated the night's narrative.
The Disappointments
Indiana's entire roster took an L here. Getting blown out 133-109 means nobody had a monster night. Haliburton probably tried to carry but you can't fight gravity.
The Heat role players around Bam got exposed. Miami was supposed to be closer in a division battle but Philadelphia's depth just hit different last night. If you were banking on supporting cast contributions from this squad, this was a reality check.
Waiver Priority
Brandon Miller stashes - If somehow still available in your league, he's past waiver consideration. He's straight up a starter now. The Hornets aren't hiding him anymore.
Depth adds from Philly's bench - Whoever stepped up around Maxey last night deserves a look. The Sixers showed they can win in different ways.
Charlotte role players - The Hornets blew out Indiana. Even the third and fourth options got clean looks and garbage time value. Someone on that bench is creeping toward consistent minutes.
Miami's bench talent - Sounds weird after a loss, but Bam showed up big. The Heat aren't going anywhere. Secondary scorers who were available are worth stashing for when Miami makes their run.
Sell High, Buy Low
Sell: Anyone who had a huge game on a losing team last night. Bam was special but Miami lost. If you can package that performance into a deal before the league remembers they got blown out, do it.
Buy: Maxey owners aren't selling. Don't bother. But if anyone drafted Miller expecting a slow burn and are now panicking about his usage rate, grab them. His role is only growing.
Trade target: Haliburton might be draggable after getting routed. If someone's frustrated with Indiana's supporting cast, now's the time to buy low before we remember the Pacers are actually built different.
On the Radar
Miller's workload is the real watch. 46.4 FP means he's seeing elite minutes and touches. Check if Charlotte is moving him into the starting five permanently or if this is just hot shooting. Either way, his floor just got higher.
Maxey's consistency matters here. One 66 FP game is amazing. Two in a row is a pattern. If he pops off again, he's a legit top-tier option conversation, not just a high-end role player.
The Sixers-Heat rivalry just got spicy for fantasy purposes. These teams play again and you better believe the Heat are looking to even things up. Matchup sharks should circle that on the calendar.
