Spurs Absolutely Cooked the Suns 121-94: Wembanyama Shows Why He's Still a Monster Despite Down Night

Alright, so the Spurs just took the Suns to the wood shed last night, 121-94. This wasn't even close. This was the kind of game where you check the box score at halftime and already know who's winning your league this week.

Here's the thing though. If you had Victor Wembanyama in your lineup, you probably felt some type of way. He put up 17/11/4 with 5 blocks in 24 minutes, which sounds elite as hell until you realize it's 7.2 points below his season average. That's the perfect example of winning a game so badly that even your best player gets to coast.

Player ESPN FP Yahoo FP Tonight Season Avg +/- Pts

The Real Story: Jalen Green Went Absolutely Off

Jalen Green is who you need to talk about. 26 points on 11-23 shooting with 4 threes in 26 minutes. That's +13.0 against his season average. This dude showed up to play when literally everyone else on Phoenix was getting exposed.

The problem? He's on a team that just got completely cooked at home. When your whole squad is getting beat down, one guy going nuclear doesn't move the needle enough for fantasy because everybody else is getting run into the ground trying to keep it close.

Green is a hold, don't get it twisted. But last night doesn't change the fact that he's been inconsistent all season and Phoenix's offense is a dumpster fire right now. This was him on a good night in a blowout loss. That's not repeatable value.

The Spurs' Role Guys Actually Stepped Up

Stephon Castle, the reigning Rookie of the Year, got 35.4 Yahoo FP on a clean 8-11 shooting night. He's a lock for your lineups when he plays, but he was only out there for 21 minutes because this thing got out of hand so fast. That's the rub with blowouts, man. Your studs get coasted.

Dylan Harper had 17 points in 25 minutes and crushed his season average by 6 points. He's still not on most waiver wires (honestly, should be), but he's worth stashing if you have the bench space. The Spurs' depth is weird and unpredictable, but guys are getting opportunities.

Luke Kornet put up 26.8 Yahoo FP with a perfect 5-5 FG night. Season average says he's a 7.4/6.7 guy who gets 16 minutes usually. Last night he was 5-5 in 16 minutes. That's variance, not a trend. Don't go chasing this in your waiver claims.

The Real Casualty: Devin Booker

Look, Devin Booker got 8 minutes. EIGHT. That's 5.2 Yahoo FP in what's supposed to be the Suns' offensive engine. He's fine, he just got benched because the game was dead by the end of the third quarter. But this is a reality check for anybody who thought Phoenix was figuring it out.

What Actually Matters for Your Week

One blowout doesn't tank a season or make a fringe guy into a must-own. Grayson Allen got 0 minutes and went undrafted, and now he's getting added across the league at 48.5% ownership. That's the fake narrative. He probably plays 25 minutes next game and you'll forget about him.

The real play here is fade anybody on Phoenix for your next few games unless you're desperate. A team that gets blown out at home like that doesn't snap back immediately. They're broken right now.

And if you had Wembanyama as a star on your roster, don't panic. 53 Yahoo FP is still a W, and he'll be back to 24 points a night once the Spurs play someone who doesn't have a pulse.
