The Headlines

Joel Embiid just put the league on notice that he's not done being a problem. 57.7 fantasy points in a Knicks loss is the kind of stat line that makes you check if he's playing on hard mode. The real story though? Tyrese Maxey completely vanished when Philly needed him most. If the 76ers are gonna make noise, they can't have their second star play ghost in tight games.

Meanwhile, Justin Champagnie came out of nowhere to drop 45.7 against Washington and remind everyone that Charlotte's bench is deeper than people think. The Hornets squeaked past the Wizards in a shootout, but Champagnie's explosion is the kind of random gem that makes waiver Wednesday spicy.

Top Performers

  1. Joel Embiid (76ers) - 57.7 FP. Carried the entire offense on his back. Shot volume was there, rebounding was there. Still lost. The Knicks defense just happened to be slightly less bad.

  2. Justin Champagnie (Hornets) - 45.7 FP. Out of the ether. Great efficiency, solid run of minutes. Question is whether this is real or a one-night stand.

  3. Julius Randle (Knicks) - Quietly did his job in the win. Not flashy but clutch down the stretch.

  4. Karl-Anthony Towns (Knicks) - Spacing was crucial in the victory. Spread the floor when it mattered.

  5. Miles Bridges (Hornets) - Led Charlotte's charge in the shootout win. Kept pace with Washington's scoring barrage.

The Disappointments

Tyrese Maxey (76ers) - This is the bust that hurts. In a one-possession game where Philly needed scoring punch, Maxey went quiet. That's not variance, that's concerning. If he's gonna be the co-star in this playoff push, he can't have these invisible games.

Kristaps Porzingis (Celtics) - Wait, he wasn't in these games. But if you owned him and benched him for Champagnie, congrats.

Waiver Priority

  1. Justin Champagnie - FIRST CALL. 45.7 points doesn't happen by accident. Check his minutes trend. If he's working into more playing time in Charlotte's rotation, he's a league winner. If it's a one-off, you'll find out quick, but you can't pass on this until you do.

  2. Any Knicks bench piece - The Knicks just proved they can win without their usual rotation clicking perfectly. Check who got run in that game and didn't get hurt. Depth is gold.

  3. Hornets role players - Charlotte showed they can win shootouts. That means minutes are stable and scoring opportunities exist. Mine that roster.

Sell High, Buy Low

Joel Embiid - He's not going anywhere, but his 57.7 is an outlier even for him. Don't panic if he has a human game next time out. The talent is elite; the volume is there. But if someone in your league watched that game and wants to overpay for him, listen to offers.

Tyrese Maxey - BUY LOW. One bad game in a loss doesn't erase his role. Philly needs him. Expect regression to the mean soon. If someone's panicking, pounce.

Justin Champagnie - Before you trade for this guy, wait 48 hours. See if this is real run or a blip. Once you confirm he's in the rotation long-term, then go get him. Don't overpay on hype alone.

The Vibe Check

Embiid continuing to be a one-man wrecking crew is predictable at this point. What's NOT predictable is Philly's consistency when Maxey isn't locked in. That's the actual concern for the rest of the season.

Charlotte's win over Washington proves that depth matters more than star power in tight games. Champagnie might've just earned himself real minutes going forward.
