Nets Steal One as Role Players Go Nuclear, but This Won't Last
The Nets won a game they had no business winning. Final was 121-115, Brooklyn holding off a Wizards squad that actually showed up and played real basketball. But here's the thing: if you're looking at this box score thinking "yeah, I'm adding these Nets guys," pump the brakes. This was a freak show performance that tells us almost nothing about how to deploy these rosters going forward.

What Actually Happened
Will Riley went off for 30 points. Thirty. On 9-16 shooting with 9 made free throws. This dude is averaging 10.2 PPG and just dropped 19.8 points above his season baseline. That's not sustainable unless something structurally changed with his role, and there's no indication it has. One monster night doesn't make him a league winner. Don't panic-add him in 10-team leagues thinking you found gold.
Nolan Traore hit five threes and scored 23 while dishing seven assists. Again, massively above his season average (+14.1 PPG). He's a role player getting a hot night. The threes will regress. He's not suddenly a 20-PPG scorer.
The Nets bench absolutely ate against Washington though. Jalen Wilson (+12.9 PPG), Josh Minott (+7.6), E.J. Liddell (+11.8) all exceeded expectations. But look at their minutes: Wilson 25, Minott 18, Liddell 29. These aren't heavy rotation guys, and in a close game, that matters. You can't count on 18-25 minute performances from young reserves to sustain a fantasy season.
The Real Story: Wizards Missed Their Stars
Here's what actually matters for fantasy. The Wizards played this entire game without some serious firepower. Check the box score: Anthony Davis, Trae Young, Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly all sitting. That's not a small bench. That's your entire offense getting wiped out.
This forced guys like Julian Reese to actually do work. He put up 17/16/1 on 43 minutes, and yeah, that's 42.7 Yahoo FP. But that's only because Washington was shorthanded. When those guys come back, Reese goes back to being a double-double specialist who probably doesn't see 43 minutes. Don't overpay for him on the trade market.
Will Riley was genuinely impressive though. 30 points on solid efficiency, and he's been getting more run lately. If he's somehow still available in your league (he shouldn't be), grab him. But understand this performance came against a Wizards team playing like a G League squad.
Waiver Wire Reality Check
Look, nobody coming off this game is moving the needle in your 12-team league. The Nets bench players had one night. Nolan Traore might be worth a flier if he's under 20% owned in your league, purely because of the shot-making upside, but don't expect this every night. Josh Minott is too inconsistent with his minutes to chase.
The only guy from Washington worth monitoring is Reese, but only if you're in a deeper league and need a reliable rebounder. His 16-board night was real, but it was also against a team that wasn't trying to win.
Bottom Line
Nets got lucky. Wizards got hurt. Neither thing tells us much about how these teams look when everyone's healthy. Don't overreact to one freak game. Your trade deadline decisions should be based on sustainable trends, not one hot night from role players. Keep your rosters as they are and reassess when the injury report actually stabilizes.
