The Headlines
Kawhi Leonard reminded everyone why he's a first-round pick, dropping 28 points on efficient shooting to steal a one-point thriller in Indiana. The Clippers' depth saved them when it mattered most, but here's the thing: this game exposed how thin LA's margin for error actually is. One point wins don't feel sustainable, and if Kawhi has an off night, this team's in trouble.
Top Performers
Kawhi Leonard (LAC) - 28 points, efficient shooting night. Did exactly what you need a max-contract guy to do in a close game.
Obi Toppin (IND) - Led the Pacers' charge but came up just short. He's been the offensive engine lately and it showed again.
Clippers Bench - Multiple role players stepped up in crunch time. The depth is real, even if it's not flashy.
Pacers Role Players - Kept Indy within striking distance despite the loss.
Reserve Minutes - Both teams leaned heavily on bench scoring. Lock in who got those minutes.
The Disappointments
Anybody expecting a blowout got punished. This was supposed to be a Clippers statement game, and instead it was a sweat-fest decided by a possession. If you had Pacers role players hoping for volume in a loss, you got some garbage time points and nothing else. The efficiency wasn't there for supporting cast members on either side until the final minutes.
Waiver Priority
1. Clippers Bench Guy with Most Minutes Grab whoever got the most rotation minutes off the bench last night. The Clippers clearly don't have faith in their starting five to close games alone, so bench depth is getting real run.
2. Pacers Backup Guard/Forward (Role Player) Toppin's workload is capped, and Indy needs another scoring outlet. Whoever stepped up off the bench deserves a look for future games where the starter rotation tightens.
3. Any Pacers Backup Center If the Pacers lose a starter to anything, this bench piece becomes instantly relevant. Grab now, use later.
Sell High, Buy Low
Sell: Kawhi Leonard - Yeah, sounds crazy. He was great, but one-point wins breed overconfidence. If someone panics and offers you depth or a secondary scorer in a trade, listen. Kawhi's usage will normalize.
Buy: Obi Toppin - Lost a close one while playing out of his mind. His role is secure, volume is there, and his price in trades might dip because Indy lost. That's backwards logic. Grab him cheap before the market corrects.
Sell: Any Clippers role player who had a huge night. One-point wins mean regression is coming. Some bench guy who went off for 20 points? Sell that as a peak performance before his minutes normalize.
Buy: Pacers' consistent role players. Being in close losses builds narrative around "they need more help." You can acquire these guys cheap while their actual workload stays stable or increases.
Bottom Line: One-point games are fun to watch, terrible for fantasy building. Kawhi showed up when it mattered, but this Clippers team's lack of a second star almost cost them. The Pacers have the pieces but can't seem to close. Don't overreact to last night's bench performances. The real moves come when you identify who's getting consistent minutes regardless of the score.
