Jokić Goes Full MVP Mode, Murray Explodes Off Bench in Nuggets' 136-131 Squeaker

Nikola Jokic didn't just show up. He reminded everyone why he's a three-time All-NBA selection.

The Nuggets' All-NBA center dropped 31/20/12 on 9-17 shooting and a perfect 11-11 from the line, good for 85 Yahoo FP. That's only 2.4 points above his season average, but the rebounds, the assists, the efficiency in crunch time, the complete takeover when the Spurs tried to get cute. That's not a typical night for a typical guy. That's Jokic doing Jokic things.

But here's what matters for fantasy: the supporting cast came absolutely unhinged. This game was chaos in the best way possible.

Player ESPN FP Yahoo FP Tonight Season Avg +/- Pts
Nikola Jokić 92.0 85.0 31/20/12 28.6/12.5/10.4 +2.4
Stephon Castle 59.0 56.2 30/11/10 16.4/4.9/6.9 +13.6
Jamal Murray 54.0 50.9 39/2/7 25.5/4.3/7.1 +13.5
De'Aaron Fox 50.0 46.1 27/3/9 19.0/3.7/6.3 +8.0

Cameron Johnson 27.0 22.5 15/5/1 11.2/3.7/2.4 +3.8

The Scoring Explosion Nobody Saw Coming

Jamal Murray cooked. 39 points on 11-21 shooting, 15-15 from the line, 39 minutes played. That's 50.9 Yahoo FP, which is +13.5 over his season average. For context, Murray normally averages 25.5 PPG. This was him in full takeover mode, and you don't get that shooting efficiency very often. This is the kind of performance that wins you weeks.

But the real story? Stephon Castle just arrived.

The 24-25 Rookie of the Year came off the bench and put the Spurs on his back like he was protecting his territory. 30/11/10 in 35 minutes off the bench. Let me say that again: the dude had a triple-double off the bench. That's 56.2 Yahoo FP, an absolutely ridiculous +13.6 over his season average. Castle is only averaging 16.4 PPG on the year, so 30 is a statement. The 11 assists? That's real floor general stuff. He was running the offense like he owned it.

Here's the thing though: Spurs fans know he came off the bench. He's not starting. So you can't build around him like a full-time starter. But in deep leagues (14+ teams), he's touching waiver wire territory if he's not already owned. For now, file this under "hot hand" rather than "new fantasy cornerstone."

The Spurs Got Contributions Everywhere (And Still Lost)

De'Aaron Fox dropped 27/3/9, which is +8.0 over his season average. He went 10-19 from the field and 4-3 from three, which feels sustainable for a guy of his caliber. That's 46.1 Yahoo FP, a solid night that should keep him on your roster without worry.

Harrison Barnes absolutely cooked off the bench. 20/7/1 on 6-10 shooting, 2 threes, 6-7 from the line. That's +9.8 over his season average and 31.9 Yahoo FP. Remember, Barnes' season average is only 10.2 PPG. This was him having a breakout moment, which is why he's showing up on waiver wires right now (currently only 5.3% owned).

The problem for the Spurs? Even with three guys going off (Castle, Fox, Barnes), they lost by five. That tells you the Nuggets were the better team when it mattered.

Spencer Jones Is Becoming Real

Spencer Jones with 19/4/2 on 8-13 shooting with two threes and a block, 32 minutes played. That's 38.8 Yahoo FP, which is absolutely massive for a role player normally averaging 5.6 PPG. The +13.4 over season average screams "this was elite efficiency," and the 32 minutes mean Denver trusted him in a close game.

Jones is at 2.2% ownership league-wide. You can get him cheap if your league has a waiver system. He's a high-variance play, but in a game where the Nuggets needed everyone, he delivered like a starter.

The Rotation Noise

Christian Braun pulled 26.8 Yahoo FP on 11/9/2 in 37 minutes, but that's only +0.2 over his season average. He was efficient with the rebounds (9 is solid), but this wasn't a breakout. He's your standard role guy performance.

Cameron Johnson was 15/5/1 on 6-8 shooting, +3.8 over average. Clean game, not flashy.

Devin Vassell for the Spurs went 18/1/3 on 5-14 shooting but grabbed 4 threes. That's 28.7 Yahoo FP, which actually matches his season average pretty closely. When he's not getting assists (only 3 is low for him), he's a pure scorer, and he showed up here.

Bottom Line for Your Rosters

If you have Jamal Murray or Nikola Jokic, you're sitting pretty. Murray's scoring explosion is the kind of game that reminds you why first-round picks pay off. Jokic was steady with that monster rebound total, which is his real value play.

Stephon Castle is worth a hard look if he's available in 14+ team leagues. He just proved he can take over games even off the bench, and that's fantasy gold in deep formats.

Harrison Barnes was dropping hints all game. If he's available in your league, grab him for depth. Sometimes role players just catch fire, and Barnes showed he can.

The Spurs fought hard and had contributions across the board, but Nuggets' balance won the day. That's the kind of team construction that wins in the postseason, which means both Jokic and Murray have high ceilings the rest of the way.
