Magic Cruise Past Wolves, Bane and Banchero Lead Fantasy Scoreboard
This one got out of hand quick. Orlando rolled into Minneapolis and put on a clinic, holding the Timberwolves to 92 points and walking out with a 119-92 W. For fantasy purposes, that's the kind of game that separates the waiver wire adds from the keepers.

The Offensive Explosion Nobody Saw Coming
Desmond Bane went absolutely nuclear. 30 points on 10-17 shooting with a perfect 10-10 from the line? That's not luck, that's a statement. He was +9.6 points above his season average, which tells you this wasn't just a typical night. In blowouts, role players sometimes disappear, but Bane kept his foot on the gas. He only grabbed 3 boards and doesn't provide much else, but 40.6 Yahoo points is money either way.
The thing that stands out: he's not a high-volume three-point shooter. He took zero threes tonight. He was getting buckets in the paint and at the line, which means Minnesota's interior defense completely folded. When you see that kind of clean shooting night from a mid-range guy, it's usually one-game variance, but it's worth monitoring if he keeps getting this kind of green light.
Paolo Banchero put up 25/15/3 in 34 minutes, quiet but efficient. He was +6.4 on the glass above his season average, which is the real story here. Against a Minnesota team that's supposed to be tough interior-wise, Paolo dominated the boards. 10-18 from the field, 4-4 from the line. That's the kind of performance that doesn't blow up your phone but wins you the week. He's been a little streaky this season (22.0 PPG average), but when he's locked in on rebounding like this, he's closer to an All-NBA caliber player than people realize.
The Lone Bright Spot for Minnesota
Anthony Edwards dropped 34/3/2 with 5 threes and 13-14 from the line. That's an elite shooting line. He was only +4.4 above his season average in a blowout loss, which sounds weird until you remember his typical game is 29.6 PPG. The guy was out there putting on a show even when it didn't matter. 52.6 Yahoo points on a losing team in a blowout.
Here's what I'm thinking: Edwards is still a first-round caliber player, and nights like this remind you why. But this game also showed you the ceiling of what an individual player can do when the rest of the team gets exposed. Minnesota got absolutely cooked, and even Ant's 34 points couldn't keep it close. Don't overthink this one though. He's still a top-20 guy no matter what, and one bad team loss doesn't change that.
The Underperformers Worth Noting
Julius Randle was supposed to be a force down low against a Wolves team that doesn't have elite interior depth. Instead, he went 6-14 and hit just 1-3 from three. 14/9/1 with 2 steals sounds solid on paper, but he was -7.4 from his season average of 21.4 PPG. When you're supposed to attack a weak defense and you underperform like that, it's a red flag. He played only 25 minutes though, which might be the real issue. If he's getting limited minutes, his ceiling takes a hit.
Jaden McDaniels was 0-9 from the field. Let me say that again. Zero for nine. 3 points, 4 boards, 2 assists in 28 minutes. That's -11.9 from his season average. In a blowout, bench players sometimes get garbage time that inflates their stats, but McDaniels couldn't catch anything. He might have been dealing with foul trouble or something situational, but that's the kind of stinker that gets people panic-dropped in shallow leagues.
The Depth Guys Who Saved Weeks
Tristan da Silva giving 31.4 Yahoo points off the bench is exactly the kind of surprise that wins fantasy weeks. 11/7/4 in 31 minutes on 5-11 shooting with 2 steals. This dude was +1.9 above his 9.1 PPG average but played way more than his typical role. Could be a minutes thing with the blowout, could be something sustainable. Either way, if he's available in your league and Orlando's bench is getting this kind of run, he's worth stashing.
Moritz Wagner with 17.9 Yahoo points on mostly free throws (5-6 FT on 1-6 FG). That's the kind of game that doesn't repeat. He got fouled a lot and capitalized, but 7 points normally from a guy averaging 8.6 PPG isn't enough to get excited about. Just noise.
Rudy Gobert holding strong with 28.6 Yahoo points even in a loss. Perfect 6-6 from the field, 12/8/0 in 33 minutes. He didn't provide much else (no assists, 0-3 from the line), but when your big man is that efficient, you take the W. He was right at his season average, which is the hallmark of a steady veteran. Gobert's value is exactly this: in blowouts where other guys disappear, he stays relevant.
The Waiver Take
No one's panicking on Paolo or Edwards after this one, but if you own them and someone in your league does, this is not the time to sell. Edwards just put up 52 fantasy points in a loss. That's first-round player production. Banchero showed he can attack boards, which is a valuable skill set you want in the playoffs.
The interesting angle is whether Tristan da Silva gets more run going forward. If this was a real minutes bump and not just a blowout thing, he's an add in 12+ team leagues. But check the injury report first. If someone was out, that explains the 31 minutes.
Don't panic on Randle or McDaniels. One bad game in a blowout is variance, not a trend. But monitor their minutes. If Randle stays under 30 or if McDaniels is getting DNPs, that's when you make moves.
