Celtics Demolished the Lakers and Nobody's Talking About How Bad It Got

Look, I'm a Celtics guy, so take this with a grain of salt. But that 111-89 beatdown last night wasn't just a win, it was a statement game that's gonna ripple through fantasy lineups for a while. The Celtics looked like they were playing 2K on a lower difficulty setting. The Lakers looked like they forgot what basketball was halfway through the second quarter.

Here's what matters for your team:

The Payton Pritchard Thing Is Real

Payton Pritchard dropped 30 points on 10-14 shooting and went +12.6 from his season average. That's not a fluke night where someone got hot. That's a guy who's clearly earned more minutes and is taking full advantage. 37 minutes played, 6 threes, 4-4 from the line. He was absolutely cooking out there. The thing about Pritchard though? He's the sixth man of the year for a reason. He's been solid all season, and last night he just showed up bigger than normal. The question isn't whether he's gonna repeat this exact game (he won't), but whether he's locked into 35+ minutes going forward. If he is, you need to pay attention. Most leagues haven't noticed yet because he's coming off the bench, but that's changing.

Jaylen Brown Did Jaylen Brown Things

Jaylen Brown put up 56.1 Yahoo points and he wasn't even the most efficient guy on the floor last night. 32/8/7 is right on brand for him, just slightly above his season average. The dude is gonna be an anchor on your squad and last night proved it again. Nothing sexy here, just consistent All-NBA level production. If you own him, you already knew this. If you don't, good luck getting him.

The Lakers Got Exposed, And It's Not Pretty

This is where it gets real. Austin Reaves, who's averaging 25.6 a night, put up 15/7/2 in 32 minutes. That's 10.6 points below his season average. Luka Dončić dropped 25 but that's 8 points down from his normal 33. DeAndre Ayton with 4/7/1? That's a full 9.2 points below his season average. Even LeBron James was basically a wash. The Lakers got absolutely clamped on both ends. This wasn't one guy having an off night, this was the whole team getting outclassed.

Here's the thing: the Lakers are still good, but the Celtics reminded everyone they're the team to beat right now. If you're holding any Lakers players, don't panic sell, but understand that we just saw what happens when Boston decides to clamp down. Against better defenses, your Lakers guys might be more boom or bust than you thought.

The Bench Guys Won the Game

Neemias Queta went off with 10/12/1 and 3 blocks in 25 minutes. That's Queta doing what Queta does when he gets run, but he got way more minutes than usual because the Celtics were blowing out LA by halftime. Don't go thinking he's suddenly a 25-minute guy every night. He's still a spot play when matchups are good.

Derrick White was solid with 12/5/8 and a steal, but he was minus 5 from his season average. That's just how you roll sometimes when your team is up 40 points in the third quarter. Everyone's getting fewer buckets because the pace slows down.

The Drop

DeAndre Ayton is dropping in ownership (71.9% owned, down), and honestly, after getting held to 4 points and looking lost on a night when the Celtics weren't even trying hard, you can't blame people. He's still got a spot in your rotation if you're desperate at center, but last night wasn't a great look.

Real Talk

The Celtics are 111, Lakers 89. That's not a close game. That's a statement. If you've got Celtics guys, ride the wave. If you've got Lakers guys, just remember they're still solid players, they just ran into one of the best teams in the league playing their best basketball. The schedule matters, and tonight they just ran into the wrong matchup.
