Look, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend this game made a ton of sense. The Wizards won a game where their full rotation looked like they called it in from a group chat, and the Pacers lost with some of their best players nowhere to be found. But that's fantasy basketball in February, baby. You take the wins however they come, and if you had the right bench guys on your squad tonight, you ate.

Alondes Williams put on a clinic for fantasy managers who had him stashed. 51 Yahoo points on a 25/10/4 line with a ridiculous 9-11 shooting night? That's not a fluke, that's what happens when a dude gets 29 minutes and comes in hot. He was +9.5 from his season average in scoring alone, and the efficiency was clean. 5-5 from the line, 2 threes on limited volume, and 10 boards.
Here's the thing though: Williams is averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 boards on the season. Tonight he exceeded his scoring average by 9.5 points. That's the kind of variance that can happen in any given night, especially in a blowout situation where the game got out of hand and he got run. I'm not saying fade him going forward, but I'm also not racing to handcuff my entire bench around him based on one eruption. Watch the next few games. If he keeps getting 25+ minutes and this efficiency sticks, he's a league-winner pickup. If this was a one-night thing, he's back to being a deep bench stash.
The Pacers Bench Just Went Off, and Not in a Good Way
Here's what killed Indiana: Jarace Walker had a monster rebounding night with 12 boards, and that's legitimately great. +7.2 boards versus his season average. But the Pacers' bench weapons came out to play like they were running a AAU pickup game. Micah Potter dropped 18 on 6-13 shooting with 4 threes. Taelon Peter threw up 12 points and picked 4 steals in 37 minutes. Jay Huff went 8-11 with 5 threes for 22 points in just 15 minutes.
The problem? This looks like garbage time heroics, not sustainable fantasy value. When your role guys are exploding like this, it usually means your core rotation got exposed or the game got out of hand. And it did. Looking at the Pacers' absences, this team was missing some serious firepower. That's why the bench got fed.
Kam Jones was the only Pacer bench guy who put up real fantasy numbers in a way that felt organic: 11 assists in 38 minutes. That's the kind of work that matters going forward if he keeps getting minutes. But again, context matters. Did he get 38 minutes because he's earned it, or because Indiana was getting blown out?
The Wizards Won With Scraps
Here's my honest take: the Wizards won this game with a roster that looked like a G League call-up squad. Anthony Gill was a +8.0 points above his season average. Tristan Vukcevic hit +6.1. These aren't your starters. These aren't even your backup rotation in a healthy season. But they showed up tonight, and fantasy managers who took shots on them got paid.
Sharife Cooper went 18 points on 8-11 shooting. Bub Carrington handled the offense fine with 7 assists. Bilal Coulibaly did Bilal Coulibaly things: 13 points on efficient shooting, solid all-around game, nothing crazy but nothing bad either.
The story here is obvious though. The Wizards are dealing with roster chaos right now. When your best players aren't available, other guys get run. That's a waiver wire opportunity this week if you're desperate, but don't go all in on a Gill or a Vukcevic as your long-term answer.
What This Means for Your Lineup
If you're in a deep league and you're looking for streaming adds this week, the Pacers' bench guys might look tempting. But I'm not buying the sustainability angle yet. That's a team that should have their main rotation back soon, which means Potter, Peter, and Huff are getting minutes crumbs.
Williams is the only guy from tonight's game I'd seriously consider adding in 12-team leagues if he's available. The volume and efficiency combo is real, and if he's getting 25+ minutes consistently, he's got league-winner upside.
For the Wizards, same deal. Wait a few days. See if this is just a one-night thing or if the absences are long-term. Then make your move.
