Thunder Demolish Suns Without SGA, Bench Crew Goes Nuclear

Look, I'm not gonna pretend this isn't weird. The reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander didn't play, and somehow OKC still walked into Phoenix and absolutely cooked them 136-109. Like, that's the kind of win that makes you check the box score twice because it doesn't compute. But the numbers don't lie, and what we saw tonight was a Thunder bench that looked like the starting five for a playoff team.

This is peak basketball chaos. Usually when your MVP sits out, you get exposed. Instead, OKC's role players put on a clinic.

The Williams Brothers Actually Run This Team?

Okay so Jalen Williams went absolutely nuclear. 28 points on 11-12 shooting with 4/5 from three, in just 19 minutes. That's not just efficient, that's "who is this guy and why haven't we noticed him before" efficient. He hit +10.5 on his season average and dropped 39.3 Yahoo FP in limited minutes. If OKC keeps giving him this kind of runway when SGA rests, he's a must-start.

But here's the thing that actually matters for your team: Jaylin Williams went off too. 11/6/5 with three blocks on clean shooting (4-8 from the field). That's a +4.7 on his season average and 37.7 Yahoo FP. The Thunder bench just looked different tonight, and both Williams boys had everything to do with it.

Kenrich Williams wasn't far behind either. 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 three-pointers in 23 minutes. +8.1 on his season average. When SGA's out, the offensive touches redistribute and these guys get fed. It's not unsustainable, but it's worth watching. OKC's got enough scoring that they can beat teams without their MVP when everyone's healthy.

The Suns' Bench Carried Them (And Still Lost)

Phoenix's situation is messier. Dillon Brooks led the way with 23/5/4, and yeah, he was pretty efficient (9-19 FG, 4-5 FT). But he only hit +1.8 on his season average. That's "fine, not special" territory, even though 38 Yahoo FP looks good on paper.

The bench went to work though. Jamaree Bouyea had 11/3/6 with solid playmaking, Jordan Goodwin chipped in 12/4/4, and Oso Ighodaro was perfect from the field (4-4). All three met or exceeded their season averages. Problem is, when your starters don't show up and your bench has to carry you anyway, you're still getting blown out.

This is the worst kind of fantasy game for Phoenix's depth guys. They played well, actually showed out, and it didn't matter because the team got cooked. Fantasy points don't care about moral victories.

What Actually Matters Going Forward

Grayson Allen didn't play, and ownership dropped 0.6%. If he's dealing with something, that's worth tracking for Phoenix. The Suns are already thin on wings without having their corners disappear.

For OKC, the story is depth. They proved they can win without SGA against a decent team. That's honestly great news for fantasy depth on that roster, but it also means when SGA gets back healthy, the minutes distribution might look different than before. The young guys are playing too well to completely bench them.

The thing I'm actually hyped about (and I say this as someone who bleeds Thunder blue), is that if OKC stays healthy and everyone's contributing like this, they're genuinely hard to beat. But from a fantasy angle, you can't count on the bench going this hard every game. Tonight was perfect storm stuff. SGA sits, everyone gets aggressive looks, and it works out. Don't expect this every time.
