Magic Offense Puts On A Show, But The Real Story Is Three Bench Guys You Probably Own

Orlando 130, Toronto 120. The Magic just cooked the Raptors in what looked like a pick-your-poison offensive clinic, but here's what matters for your roster: role players went absolutely nuclear while your stars just did their thing. This is one of those games where the real money was made on the wire, not with the guys you drafted.

Player ESPN FP Yahoo FP Tonight Season Avg +/- Pts
Paolo Banchero 49.0 48.8 20/9/6 21.8/8.8/4.9 -1.8

The Bench Guys That Actually Matter

Desmond Bane dropped 32 points on 11-15 shooting with seven threes. That's 12.7 points above his season average in one game. Here's the thing though, he's already 95.4% owned in ESPN leagues, so if you don't have him, tough luck. But if you're in a shallow league and somehow missed him, grab him now because that shooting stroke is real.

Wendell Carter Jr. went for 23/7 on 9-14 shooting. He's a center playing meaningful minutes for a team that just put up 130 points, and he finished 10.6 points above his season average. This is the kind of game that gets people excited about a backup big, but let's be real: he's getting his minutes because Paolo still draws attention. Still, if you need rim running and boards, Carter's got real value here.

Anthony Black though? This is the one that should actually move your needle. 25 points on 5-11 shooting, but here's the kicker, he went 14-14 from the line. That's nine points above his season average on solid efficiency. 39 minutes played. This is a guy who could legitimately be sneaking into the mid-round conversation if this minutes trend holds. He's basically getting used as a secondary playmaker next to Suggs now.

The Stars Did Their Thing (Nothing Wild)

Paolo Banchero put up 20/9/6 on efficient shooting (5-11 FG, 9-11 FT). That's exactly what you expect from him at this point in the season. Not a letdown, not a breakout, just competent All-Star basketball. Same story with Scottie Barnes for Toronto, 19/9/6 with four blocks. Both guys delivered their season averages basically, which honestly tells you the role players carried this game.

Brandon Ingram actually cooked though. 35 points on 13-23 shooting, even grabbed four threes. That's 13.1 above his season average and the kind of game that reminds you why he's on the trade market. If your league is talking about selling low on someone, this is the game that makes sellers regret it. Buy him if you can afford the hit to another position.

Jalen Suggs ran the offense efficiently, 14/6/10 with three threes and no turnovers. That's 5.1 assist points above his average, which tells you the game flow helped him operate. When the Magic are feeling it on offense, Suggs benefits from easier spacing and more flow.

The Real Takeaway

Toronto came to play but couldn't keep up with four different Magic guys going for 40+ Yahoo points. That's not sustainable, and it wasn't a blowout either, just 10-point margin. If you own any of these Magic role guys, you're okay tonight. If you don't own them and you're in a league where they're available, they're worth a look off waiver.

The Raptors showed some fight though. Ingram went absolutely nuclear and that matters if you're trying to move him or if you own him in a keeper league. Don't panic on the Raptors offense just because they lost.
