Clippers Edge Past Jazz 115-103: Harden's Playmaking Carries LA Despite Quiet Night Shooting

James Harden played the role of facilitator rather than scorer, and honestly, that's more dangerous for Jazz defenses. He dropped 44.6 Yahoo FP on a 16-point, 10-assist performance, and while the scoring feels modest for a guy averaging 25.6, the +1.9 assists versus his season average tells you everything about how the Clippers wanted to attack Utah tonight. He didn't need to go off. He just needed to run the show, and he did exactly that.

Kawhi Leonard was Kawhi, which is to say efficient and relatively quiet in the assist department but still 36.4 Yahoo FP on 21 points and 7 boards. Down 7.1 from his 28.1 PPG average, but in a 12-point win, you're not complaining about All-NBA validation. He took what the Jazz gave him and didn't force anything.

Kris Dunn Had an Absolute Shocker

This is the wildcard here. Kris Dunn came in averaging 7.8 PPG and went for 14 points on 6-10 shooting plus 5 steals. That's 33.4 Yahoo FP and a +6.2 against his season average. The steals are what matter most for fantasy purposes, right? Four steals at 3 points each on Yahoo is 12 FP just from defense. If you've got him on the wire in a 12 or 14-team league, look at who dropped him. Someone panic-binned him somewhere, and tonight proved why that was premature.

Ace Bailey Went Nuclear (Again)

Ace Bailey posted 20 points on 8-16 shooting with 4 threes in 28 minutes. That's 19 Yahoo FP and he's now at 26.0% ESPN ownership, up 1.9% from this game alone. Look, the Jazz are clearly giving him minutes and playing time, but 20 PPG on a 10.9 seasonal average is the kind of spike that gets people excited. The reality check: 5-15 FG night from Lauri Markkanen (-8.9 from his 27.9 average) meant more offensive opportunities for everyone else. Bailey got his, but I'd wait to see if this is sustainable or just variance.

The Jazz Offensive Collapse Nobody's Talking About

Utah only managed 103 points against LA's defense. Isaiah Collier did his job with 9 assists against 4 boards, hitting nearly his season averages. Kyle Anderson went 4-6 from the floor and contributed 26.1 Yahoo FP, which is solid depth contributor stuff. But the Jazz couldn't find rhythm, and when your best player (Lauri) shoots 33% from the field, you're losing that game nine times out of ten.

Here's the real concern: Kyle Filipowski pulled down 11 boards in 23 minutes (22.7 Yahoo FP), which feels like a reach for minutes in a 12-point loss. If the Jazz needed that much rebounding activity from a reserve big, the frontcourt depth situation is more fragile than the stat line suggests.

The Clippers Bench Got After It

Brook Lopez absolutely cooked for 23 Yahoo FP on a 20-minute cameo. That's +7.7 from his 6.3 seasonal average, and 4-7 from three suggests LA found him in rhythm spots. Jordan Miller added 26.3 Yahoo FP with 11 points on 7-10 from the line, which is the kind of efficient scoring punch you want seeing minutes.

The Clippers' depth held up when it mattered. In a 12-point win where Harden and Kawhi both underperformed scoring-wise, that's how you close out road games.

What to Do Monday Morning

If Kris Dunn is sitting on your wire, add him in anything 12-team or larger. The steals floor is real, and 5 STL games hit harder in fantasy than in actual basketball.

Ace Bailey is interesting but wait one more game. One 20-point performance doesn't break a season trend. If he does it again Thursday, then you've got something.

Don't panic-drop Lauri Markkanen. One 33% shooting night against a decent defense doesn't tank a season. The guy's All-NBA adjacent. He'll bounce back.

The Jazz depth players (Collier, Anderson, Filipowski) all did their jobs without being spectacular. Nothing to chase here unless you're desperate for fill-ins.
