Jalen Duren Just Made You Money, But Don't Sleep on the Bench Players

Detroit rolled into New Orleans and got the W, 112-104, but the fantasy gold wasn't just in the stat lines. Jalen Duren went absolutely nuclear for 49.5 Yahoo FP, absolutely crushing expectations, while some absolute role player nobodies turned in performances that'll have you scrambling the waiver wire at midnight. This game is the perfect reminder that sometimes the biggest wins come from the guys nobody's watching.

The Winners

Jalen Duren absolutely carried the Pistons, dropping 49.5 FP on a night where he was efficient as hell. The man went 7-11 from the floor and 6-6 from the line, racking up 20 and 15 boards in just 29 minutes. That's not just good, that's a +2.2 points and +4.1 rebounds above his season average. He's your center right now if you don't have him locked in.

Micah Peavy though, this is the real story. This dude came out of absolutely nowhere with 42.4 FP, hitting 7-11 from deep with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals in 26 minutes. His season average is a pitiful 4.9 PPG, so +12.1 above the norm is genuinely insane. This screams one-game fluke, but if he's available on your wire, grab him just to see if there's something brewing.

Daniss Jenkins put up 31.2 FP with 17 points and 4 assists, easily his best game of the season. +9.3 points above his measly 7.7 average. Detroit's got something cooking with him in the rotation.

The Letdowns

Trey Murphy III underwhelmed for the Pelicans with 28.8 FP, posting -5.0 points below his 22.0 PPG average. He played 34 minutes but went 6-19 from the floor. This isn't panic territory, it's one bad shooting night against a solid defensive unit. Sell high if someone bites, but don't drop him.

Zion Williamson played just 14 minutes and scored 4 points on 2-5 shooting, sitting way below his 21.9 PPG average. There's something off with his role or health. Monitor this hard because if he's not getting run, that's a bigger problem than one game.

The Trends

The Pistons depth was on full display. Daniss Jenkins and Ausar Thompson both hit double digits in fantasy value, suggesting Detroit's actually got multiple viable fantasy scorers now instead of relying solely on Jalen Duren. That's huge for their fantasy upside. Duncan Robinson chipped in 28.3 FP, which is solid role player production.

New Orleans is clearly banged up or figuring out their rotation. Micah Peavy getting 26 minutes off the bench and going off suggests coaching staff is experimenting with bench lineups. Saddiq Bey was solid but not spectacular at 29.6 FP, suggesting New Orleans doesn't have consistent secondary scoring behind their star players.

The Moves

Add Micah Peavy immediately if you're in a deep league. I know he looks like a total fluke with that 4.9 PPG average, but 26 minutes and 7-11 shooting suggests he's getting real opportunity. Could be nothing, but could be a valuable bench contributor emerging.

Don't panic sell Trey Murphy III, but if someone offers you value, take it. One bad game doesn't tank his season, but monitor his usage rate going forward.

Daniss Jenkins is worth a stash in 12+ team leagues. The production jumped significantly tonight and if he's getting meaningful minutes in Detroit's rotation, he could be sneaky helpful down the line.

Next Up

Watch the Pistons' next game to see if Daniss Jenkins holds rotation minutes or if tonight was a one-off. If he keeps playing, he's a potential league winner pickup. Jalen Duren should continue getting minutes and touches, so hold tight there. For New Orleans, keep an eye on whether Zion's getting pushed out of the rotation or if it was just load management. Micah Peavy's usage needs to be consistent for him to matter, so wait and see if he gets another 20+ minute night before committing too hard.
