The Headlines
Alperen Sengun just put the entire league on notice. 50.6 fantasy points against New Orleans isn't a fluke, it's a declaration. The Rockets are running through defenses like a hot knife through butter, and Sengun is the blade. If you've been sleeping on him, tonight's your wake-up call. Also worth watching: Deni Avdija absolutely torched Sacramento for 51.6 FP, proving the Blazers' offense is clicking in ways nobody predicted. Portland isn't supposed to be this good, but here we are.
The other story? Jokic's stack got obliterated. Denver got embarrassed in Charlotte 110-87. Yeah, that actually happened. Sell the narrative that Nuggets are fine. They're not.
Top Performers
Deni Avdija (POR) - 51.6 FP vs Kings. Donovan Clingan's co-star is putting up All-Star numbers and basically nobody's talking about it.
Alperen Sengun (HOU) - 50.6 FP vs Pelicans. Two straight elite outings. This is who he is now, not a one-off.
Ja Morant (MEM) - 50.5 FP vs Magic. "Unhinged" is the word from the recap and honestly, peak Ja is peak fantasy.
Nikola Vučević (CHI) - 41.2 FP vs Nets. Coby White finally remembered how to play, but Vucc was the real engine. Quietly consistent.
Brandon Ingram (LAL) - 45.7 FP vs Raptors. Lakers remembered they have talent. Ingram eating on a team that's actually clicking matters.
The Disappointments
Jokic got cooked. Denver's entire stack imploded in Charlotte. If you had Jokic, Murray, or even their role players last night, you know the pain. This wasn't an off night, this was a collapse. Tidjane Salaün putting up 31.2 FP on Denver's head should tell you something.
The Pelicans got manhandled by Houston. If you were counting on New Orleans to keep pace, that window just slammed shut. Their depth isn't there.
Donovan Mitchell (not mentioned but worth noting from recap context) and the Kings got tooled by Portland. Sacramento's defense is still a liability.
Waiver Priority
Jock Landale (MEM) - Listed as a "secret weapon" for a reason. The Grizzlies are gonna keep playing him in blowout situations and he's producing. Deep league stash with real upside.
Coby White (CHI) - "Finally woke up" means he's back in play. If Chicago's bench is carrying them and White's getting minutes, he's a target.
Jabari Smith Jr. (HOU) - The recap says he "reminded everyone he can actually ball out." That's your add signal. Sengun's elevation might actually create more spacing for Jabari.
Deandre Ayton (LAL) - "Finally showed up" suggests he's been inconsistent, but when Lakers are winning and clicking, Ayton gets his. Worth monitoring closely.
Sell High, Buy Low
Sell High:
- Alperen Sengun - 50.6 FP is a peak performance. If you can package him to someone buying into the narrative, do it. Two huge games make people overpay.
- Ja Morant - 50.5 FP is exciting but unsustainable. Sell while the fantasy world thinks he's back on MVP form.
Buy Low:
- Nikola Jokic - One bad game against Charlotte doesn't kill a generational talent. Everyone's gonna panic-sell. Don't. Buy the dip.
- Brandon Ingram - 45.7 FP with the Lakers actually functioning means he's about to be consistent. Grab him before owners realize the team turned a corner.
- Donovan Clingan - He's "stealing the show" in Portland's backcourt next to Avdija. Rookie upside on a winning team doesn't stay cheap long.
The Bottom Line
Tonight was chaos in the best way. Sengun and Avdija proved they're not one-week wonders, Ja reminded us why he's electric, and Denver reminded us that even superteams can get embarrassed. The waiver wire is ready to move. Don't sleep on role players getting run with winning teams (looking at you, Landale). And for the love of fantasy basketball, don't panic-sell Jokic just because Denver had one brutal night.
