Maxey Goes Supernova But Raptors Steal the Show in Defensive Slugfest
Tyrese Maxey dropped 38 and nearly carried the 76ers to victory, but the Raptors' depth and Scottie Barnes' monster game proved too much in a one-point thriller. Here's the thing though, the real fantasy story isn't just Maxey's 57.3 Yahoo points, it's how Toronto's role players absolutely exploded when it mattered most. Collin Murray-Boyles put up a double-double off the bench, Jamal Shead went nuclear, and Barnes reminded everyone he's a legitimate fantasy asset. Meanwhile, Philadelphia's stars carried too much of the load, leaving their supporting cast in the dust. This game is a masterclass in why depth matters in fantasy leagues.

Tonight's Top Performers
Tyrese Maxey absolutely cooked with 57.3 Yahoo points and a cherry-picked 38 points on 13-27 shooting. He was +7.7 above his season average, which is legit elite stuff. Here's the kicker though, his 44 minutes and the fact that he had to go full hero mode just shows you how thin the 76ers' supporting cast really is. This is the problem with Philadelphia's roster right now. When Maxey has to do everything, everyone else underperforms.
Collin Murray-Boyles is the real fantasy breakout here. 55.5 points on a 7.7 average is insane. He went off for 17/15/3/3/3 in 42 minutes off the bench, crushing his season scoring by 9.3 points and his rebounding by 9.9. This isn't a fluke either, he got legitimate run and opportunities. He's suddenly a waiver wire priority if he's still available in your league.
Scottie Barnes came to play with 47.4 Yahoo points and a monster 31/7/8 line. He's +11.5 above his season average in scoring, and those 43 minutes show he's entrenched as Toronto's number two option. This dude is a legit hold going forward. Barnes showed up when it mattered most in a one-point game.
Immanuel Quickley was solid with 46.5 points (20/5/7/4), basically right on his season average. Nothing crazy, but reliable. When your stars go off, your role players staying consistent is exactly what you want to see.
The Winners
Scottie Barnes is the story here. He put up 31 points on 43 minutes of run, +11.5 above his average. This isn't a one-off performance, this is Toronto saying "we're riding with this guy," and fantasy managers need to respect it. If you can trade for him, do it.
Collin Murray-Boyles deserves the waiver wire claim of the week. 17 points and 15 boards on a 7.7/5.1 average is exactly the kind of upside you hunt. He got the opportunity and he ran with it. If he's available in your league right now, he should be gone by tomorrow morning.
Jamal Shead flew under the radar with 31.2 Yahoo points, going 22/1/6 on 37 minutes. That's +14.8 above his season average as a backup point guard. Not sustainable, but it shows Toronto has some scoring depth nobody was talking about.
The Letdowns
Andre Drummond was completely washed out with only 9 Yahoo points on 0 points scored. He pulled down five boards but got zero minutes of real impact. The 76ers couldn't find him any rhythm, which is basically the story of their bench unit on this night.
Kelly Oubre Jr. was fine with 37 Yahoo points, but that's still -0.4 below his average. In a losing effort where the team desperately needed everyone firing, Oubre got 34 minutes and mostly disappeared. He had four steals, which saved the night, but his scoring (13 points) wasn't enough impact.
The Trends
Toronto's bench went absolutely crazy. Murray-Boyles getting 42 minutes and Shead playing 37 is a huge deal. These aren't standard minutes distributions, which means either the starters were in foul trouble or the Raptors' coaching staff was actually playing the hot hands. Either way, watch how the rotation looks in their next game because that bench depth is suddenly viable.
Philadelphia leaned way too hard on Maxey (44 minutes) and didn't get contributions from the usual guys. VJ Edgecombe putting up 29.8 points is fine, but Oubre not showing up and Drummond being a ghost is a real problem for Philly's spacing and rim protection.
The Moves
Add Collin Murray-Boyles immediately. He's still probably available in most leagues and just proved he can put up 55+ points when given opportunity. Even if Toronto doesn't always give him 42 minutes, he's shown the ceiling.
Consider buying low on Kelly Oubre Jr. One slightly below-average game in a loss shouldn't tank his value, but his price might dip. If you can grab him cheap, do it because his defensive upside and streaky scoring are usually worth the ride.
Sell slightly on Tyrese Maxey if you can get premium value. Don't panic, but understand that when one player is carrying that much load for 44 minutes, it's unsustainable. He went +7.7 above average just to keep his team competitive. If someone's offering you a star for him straight up, think about it.
Next Up
Watch how Toronto uses Murray-Boyles and Shead next game. If they get similar minutes, that's a real role shift and both become must-owns. For Philly, the question is whether they get healthier or if Maxey continues to be a 40+ minute guy. Neither is great for fantasy sustainability. The Raptors look deeper than we thought, and that's the real takeaway here.
